A St. Michael’s education is a significant investment in your child’s growth and future, and we are committed to making it accessible and affordable. While our programs are exceptional, our tuition remains lower than many independent schools of similar caliber in Richmond.
Tuition covers about 90% of the cost of education, with the remainder supported through tax-deductible Annual Giving, periodic Capital Campaigns, and other contributions. Our families understand the importance of this support, generously giving each year to ensure St. Michael’s continues to provide a vibrant, values-based, and high-quality learning experience for all students.
St. Michael’s has a long history of prudent financial stewardship. As a K-8 school, we do not have to carry the high costs and broad offerings of high school AP classes and faculty. Additionally, we invest in tried and true educational programs and proven practices versus chasing trendy educational or organizational philosophies.

St. Michael’s is committed to being a diverse and inclusive community, reflecting a broad socioeconomic range of families. The Financial Aid program is designed to make a St. Michael’s education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. We partner with a service called Clarity, an impartial third-party platform, to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts. Submitting an inquiry or application for financial assistance has no bearing on the admission decision.
Please indicate your interest in learning more about the Financial Aid process on your admissions application. Information about applying for aid will be sent by email in December. Awards are based on need and are determined by the School’s Financial Aid Committee. All information is kept strictly confidential.
